The Avery keeps the light bentwood frame of a bistro chair and adds two upgrades guests notice: an oval back panel in natural cane webbing that lets light through, and a padded round seat in vinyl or leather-look upholstery. It is a strong choice when you want the Parisian-cafe look but expect people to linger.
Construction. Steam-bent solid hardwood back loop and legs, with a reinforcing leg ring. The cane panel is set into a groove in the back frame so it can be replaced if a guest pushes through it, which is far cheaper than replacing the chair. The upholstered seat sits on a round plywood base fixed into the seat ring.
Where it works. Cafes, brasseries, patisseries, hotel lobby restaurants and wine bars.
Options. Walnut, honey, natural or black stain; natural or black-stained cane; seat in vinyl, leather or COM.
Care. Wipe the cane with a damp cloth only and keep it away from soaking mop water; cane that stays dry stays taut. As with all bentwood chairs, retighten the fixings after the first months of service.
