The Corder pairs a crisp, slightly tapered ash frame with a back panel of tightly woven cord. The weave gives texture and a little flex in the back without the maintenance of an upholstered back, while the padded seat keeps it comfortable through a long dinner. In red vinyl it is bold and wipe-clean; in a natural linen-look fabric it reads quieter and more Nordic.
Construction. Solid hardwood frame with the back posts running continuously into the rear legs, the strongest arrangement for a chair that gets leaned back on. The woven back is wrapped around a framed panel so it can be replaced as a unit. The seat cushion sits on a plywood pan screwed up from below, with corner blocks glued and screwed into the seat frame.
Where it works. Modern bistros, Asian-fusion and noodle restaurants, cafes and hotel restaurants where you want warmth and texture without heavy upholstery.
Options. Natural, smoked or walnut stain; cord in natural, black or charcoal; seat in vinyl, fabric or COM. An armchair version can be drawn on request.
