The Sterling is a statement chair: a tall back that flares at the shoulders, button-tufted across the upper back, with an exposed walnut-stained frame tracing its outline. It is the chair you put at the ends of a long table or around a private dining room, where guests stay for hours and expect to feel looked after.
Construction. Solid hardwood frame with an exposed show-wood edge, high-resilience foam on the seat and back, and buttons anchored through the back panel rather than glued on. The seat is upholstered on a pan screwed up from below for future recovering. Rear legs are splayed for stability under the tall back.
Specifying tufting in a restaurant. Tufts collect crumbs. In this design they sit on the upper back only, away from the seat, which keeps cleaning practical. Vinyl or a tightly woven fabric with a stain-resistant finish is the right cover choice.
Where it works. Private dining rooms, steakhouses, hotel fine dining, and host or head-of-table positions.
Options. Cover in leather, vinyl or contract fabric (COM accepted); frame stain; nail-head trim on request.
