The Thornton is drawn to sit across the table from a channel-back booth. Its five vertical channels echo the banquette, so the chair and the booth look like one designer's work rather than two purchases. The high back rolls slightly at the top, giving a natural hand grip for servers and a confident silhouette in a long room.
Construction. Hardwood frame with ebonized square tapered legs. The back channels are formed in separate foam strips, stitched down to the frame so each channel holds its shape, and the seat is upholstered over high-resilience foam on a removable pan.
Specifying channels. Channels look best in leather or vinyl with some body. Thin fabrics can wrinkle between channels. We recommend a cover sample on the pre-production chair if you are using COM.
Where it works. Steakhouses, cocktail-led restaurants, hotel grills and fine dining rooms with channel-tufted banquettes.
Options. Oxblood, cognac, black or forest-green leather or vinyl; leg finish ebonized, walnut or natural; channel count adjustable on the drawing.
